YOUTH BAND PROJECT, Carefree Cornwall

From 2017-2018 I delivered a long term project with Carefree Cornwall helping teenagers form a band and compose music. Carefree Cornwall is a charity that supports children in care and care leavers across Cornwall and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with some of their amazing youngsters.

KANA! CHOIR, Cymaz Music

From January 2017 - July 2018 the KANA! Workplace choir in Truro, facilitated by Cymaz Music. The choir is open to any Cornwall Council or NHS staff and are an excellent way to wind down and socialise after work hours. The Truro group meets Mondays at 5:30-6:45pm in the atrium at New County Hall. For more information visit

In October 2017, along with professional guitarist and Music Practitioner Giles Woolley, I set up Sing Falmouth. Sing Falmouth is a contemporary community choir with live music every week. Following the success of Sing Falmouth, in January 2018 we set up Sing Truro. The choirs are going from strength to strength and now boast over 140 singers. We recently performed at the famous Enys Gardens Bluebell Festival and have some very exciting performances coming up in 2018. For more info on joining the choir, please find us on Facebook or visit

In 2012 I founded the Alsager Community Choir, a Cheshire based choir that sings a diverse range of repertoire ranging from contemporary to motown and most things in between. The choir has around 60 members now and goes from strength to strength each year. In the summers of 2015 and 2016 we were invited to perform with BRIT-Award winning vocal harmony trio BLAKE at their concerts in Crewe and Buxton. BLAKE have since appeared on the Graham Norton Show, Strictly Come Dancing and Songs of Praise. Whilst I remain as Music Director of the Alsager Community Choir, the choir is currently led by Music Leader Daniel Keen, a vastly experienced MD who brings a wealth of experience and repertoire. For more information about the choir please visit or find us on facebook here.

My passion has always to make choral singing more inclusive in my community so I decided to set up a choir for adults with learning disabilities in Winsford Cheshire, in partnership with Vivo Care Choices. The choir met every week and we learned a variety of songs from over the years. Some participants in the choir were non-verbal communicators so I encouraged the use of percussive instruments to represent these individuals. The choir was an excellent opportunity for service users and their support staff to participate in a fun and social activity together and became an important part of the social calendar,

In Summer 2016 I was approached by the New Vic Theatre to work on a project as Musical Director, working closely with a group of young theatre enthusiasts.  I introduced the young participants to various pieces of music from the shows, working on ensemble harmony, solo performance and also on vocal technique and health. Working with the Youth Director Kat Hughes we encouraged the group to create a small show using the songs they had learned. The project was a huge success and the participants, some of whom had never sang before, put on an excellent show for an enthusiastic audience at the theatre.

In 2013 I was asked to run a 10 week choir workshop for Shine, a charity based in Blurton, Stoke-on-Trent, that organises activities and skill-building workshops for adults with learning disabilities. The project involved devising a diverse repertoire of music for a Christmas concert to be held at the end of the 10 weeks. The participants were encouraged to perform solos as well as work on big ensemble pieces with choreography and costumes. The concert was a huge success and was attended by the local Mayor for Stoke-on-Trent. With the guidance and expertise I gave the volunteers during the project, Shine are now able to continue the choir and have since put on 3 more Christmas concerts.
